SCCC Committee members hired a mini bus & 12 of us
had a meeting with Bhai Sahib bhai Mohinder Singh Ji, Chairman of Guru Nanak
Nishkam Sevak Jatha, Soho Rd, Birmingham. Bhai Sahib gave an inspirational
talk on Sikhism in general & more importantly why (reasoning behind this or
any similar project) are we building the gurdwara in Crawley, His
guidance to this were basically as follows:
- There
should be strong leadership & committee structure behind any such
project.
- Should
have main & always central focus on Sikh preachings (or our guru
granth sahib ji being our leader, our only focus & nothing else),
everything else revolving/evolving around this
- Adopt
thinking, planning or foresight not only for a few years from now but
50 or more years from now i.e. the shape Sikhism will take place & its
central role in the future. How it will affect our children & their
children i.e. generations to come.
- Bhai
Sahib Ji also looked at our plans & aired some views i.e. type of
building structure, layout etc. We left copies of our project drawings
with him for his architect to give further input.
- After
this meeting bhai sahib ji took us on a tour of the Niksham Centre
- very impressive indeed, the many facilities it provides. We also had a
visit to the children's nursery school. The dedication of the many
volunteers on hand was a real eye opener.
We left Birmingham spiritually uplifted, inspired
& with positive vibes. We have a strong feeling that bhai sahib ji
will assist us (in whatever capacity) towards our project.
